The 2024/25 season of the FA Women’s National League (FAWNL) gets underway this weekend as clubs in the third and fourth tiers of women’s football are getting ready for the big kick-off on Sunday 18th August. After a busy preseason, AFC Fylde Women are looking forward to an exciting new campaign in the FAWNL Division One North.
Ahead of their curtain-raiser at Barnsley this Sunday, we take a closer look at AFC Fylde Women’s fixtures for the 2024/25 season. Following their relegation last season, the Coasters are preparing to compete in the fourth tier of the women’s football pyramid.
Joint First Team Managers Jake Williams and Steve Mainwaring have assembled a talented and competitive squad of players, who are eager to hit the ground running when they travel to South Yorkshire for their opener against Barnsley FC Women. The newly promoted Reds will also be keen to lay down a marker when they entertain Fylde on the Oakwell AstroTurf.
On August bank holiday weekend, Fylde welcome Leeds United Women to Kellamergh Park as part of their Family Fun Day on Sunday 25th August. It promises to be a great occasion as the Coasters begin their home campaign against the Whites of West Yorkshire.
Fylde have been drawn away to Burnley Women in the FAWNL Cup Determining Round, which takes place in the week commencing 26th August. This cup tie will be held at the Lancashire FA County Ground in Leyland on a date to be confirmed.
September is a busy month for the Coasters, starting with an away trip to Middlesbrough Women on 1st September, followed by a home clash with Stockport County Ladies on 8th September. Fylde travel to the Stafflex Arena on 15th September to renew their acquaintance with Huddersfield Town Women, before returning to Kellamergh Park on 22nd September to face Norton & Stockton Ancients. Fylde round off the month with the midweek visit of Chorley Women on 25th September.
The Coasters begin October on the road as they take on York City Ladies at York St John University Sports Park on 6th October. Fylde then enter the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at the Third Round Qualifying stage, which is scheduled for 13th October. The month concludes with a home game against Doncaster Rovers Belles on 27th October.
The first weekend of November is reserved for the First Round Proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup. The Coasters return to league action on 10th November when they visit Durham Cestria. Fylde play host to Cheadle Town Stingers on 17th November, before the Second Round Proper takes centre stage on 24th November.
December brings a reversal of the opening two fixtures as the Coasters host Barnsley FC Women on 8th December, before crossing the Pennines to face Leeds United Women on 15th December.
Following the winter break, the Coasters kick off 2025 with Middlesbrough Women at home on 5th January, followed by an away trip to Stockport County Ladies on 12th January.
The Coasters play host to York City Ladies on 2nd February, before a midweek encounter away to Chorley Women on 12th February. Rounding off the month, Fylde travel to the North East to take on Norton & Stockton Ancients on 23rd February.
The Terriers are in town on 9th March as Huddersfield Town Women visit Kellamergh Park. A fortnight later on 23rd March, Fylde travel to the Eco-Power Stadium to meet Doncaster Rovers Belles.
The Coasters wrap up their home campaign against Durham Cestria on 13th April, before they finish the season with an away trip to Cheadle Town Stingers on 27th April.
